Boat Shed

These upturned keelboats on Holy Island in Northumberland, were once part of the largest herring fleet to sail from the north east coast of England. By the early part of the 20th Century their numbers had dwindled & many that were no longer seaworthy were cut in half and converted into sheds. They remain today as a living reminder of a way of life that has sadly slipped into history.
